Marine Bank Reopens After Bank Failure Fallout
In Marine, a bank run followed the Sunday failure of the LaSalle Street Bank in Chicago, led by vice president C. B. Munday of Marine Bank. Munday resigned as bank president as state auditors stepped in, but Bank Examiner John Scullins found affairs sound. Marine renewed operations after efforts to divest Munday family stock and deposits stabilized, with Chicago’s failure causing limited impact locally.
