You Can Do It With A Ford At Indy Race
B W Jarvis and Harry MecDaniel drove the Lew Packard to Indianapolis last week to witness a 560 mile auto event. They started from Troy Thursday at 6:30 pm, reached Vandalia the same night, and arrived in Indianapolis at 8 o'clock the next day. The race drew 29 cars with about half finishing. 100 miles were covered in 87 minutes and 500 miles in 6 hours 3 minutes 46 seconds. Three cars were wrecked and five people injured. A crowd of about one hundred thousand watched. Return trip began Saturday at 6 pm, 72 miles to Terre Haute that night, arriving back in Troy Sunday evening.
