Convention Hall in Denver witnessed a record breaking 90 minute demonstration in support of Bryan. Senators, delegates and spectators cheered as Gore spoke and the crowd roared through bands, banners, and a massed show of flags. Ruth Leavitt and Longworth were among notable figures as credentials committee unseated Guffey and reconstituted the national committee.

Mrs H J Liggett wife of a prominent Canton merchant leaped from a bridge into 11 feet of water to rescue her 7 year old son who had fallen into the channel at Van Winkle Lake. She surfaced with the boy and held onto a snag until help arrived.
A Chester floater was identified as William Stockman, 26, of 2220 Howard Street, St Louis. He drowned off a barge owned by the Union Electric Light and Power Co at the foot of Ashley street, identified by a brother.
Havana-Thomas Curtiss, 37, drowned after a launch engine exploded near Bath on return to Bluff City. Curtiss and four companions were thrown into the water. he could not swim. The others were rescued.
A shabbily dressed man with a bullet wound was found on a side track of the Chicago Peoria and St Louis line sixteen miles north of Havana. A hat and blood in a car led to the discovery and search for the victim.
Monmouth reports a Greek proprietor refused service of ice cream to colored women. He was fined $50 for drawing the color line in his candy kitchen.
Fairfield Perry Young, a local farmer near this city, fell from a hay mow and struck a pitch fork handle. He is in critical condition.
Moline Ives Hegberg was shot in the face with a blank cartridge while standing on a street corner. The blast tore into his eye and caused serious injury with a risk of fatal lockjaw.
