May Start Plant in Madison County Prompts Inquiries
Reports say repairs are under way at the Great Western Chemical garbage reduction plant at Stallings Madison County as officials anticipate resuming operations soon. Attorney Gillham warns that any reopening would invite an injunction and vows the plant will not run again. Nearby St Louis talks with Lift nota Fertilizer Co to handle garbage during a harsh winter. Tax figures outline district rates with total rates in District 62 at 2.84 and District 63 at 4.47 per $400 valuation.
