Springfield Feb 4 After a long struggle the Murty Assembly passes the Jones Oglesby bill establishing direct primaries for state offices governor lieutenant governor secretary of state treasurer auditor general attorney general and others. The measure sets party organization rules primaries dates and voter eligibility with voting hours from 6 am to 5 pm and protections on absentee voting and ballot access. provisions define political parties districts and committees and outline delegate selection for state senatorial and congressional conventions and presidential electors.
