Charles Eckert Succumbs in St Louis Hospital
Charles Eckert 45, eldest son of Squire Philip Eckert, died Monday at Deaconess hospital St Louis after nephritic calculus and kidney surgery. Born in St Clair county, he lived in Troy then St Louis, where he worked as a barber. Survived by wife Rosa Kelmet, seven children, father Philip Eckert, three brothers and a sister. Funeral held Wednesday at 2 pm from 2207 St Charles street. interment in St Pauls cemetery. Relatives from the city attended.

Troy man in town seeks Guinness mules for sale
A. L. Jianton of Troy in town Monday to handle matters of Guinness. Henry Cohn offered 625 dollars for Jianton’s eighteen hands high, 3,400 pound team but was refused. The mules, used for bawling logs, started 79 logs on a flat car and are praised as the best in the region by Cohn and Collinsville Herald. A telephone tip from St. Louis mentioned a past team deal and price was reported.
