Arthur E. Rump, once a Troy boy, was cited in the St. Louis Republic for a $2,000 congressional aid grant toward his $10,000 injury claim from service with the United States mail. His wife, already ill, underwent brain surgery in March and now both struggle. Rump’s interview reveals his gratitude, his wife’s fading strength, and the couple’s uncertain future as he hopes the aid helps them endure. Water concerns in Troy emerge as mining-era wells and a new Denk mine stream offer hope for future supplies, with discovery at Benid and a potential city waterworks plan hinging on success there.
