Auditors Oppose State Examiners in Springfield Meeting
The County Auditors association, meeting at the courthouse in Springfield, adopted resolutions opposing Senate bills 38 or 270 providing a state examiner to audit county accounts. The bills would create an appointive examiner with assistants funded by counties, and a uniform bookkeeping system. The group also discussed amendments to the act creating the county auditor office to better define duties.

State charities commission seeks new hospital and school plans
The state charities commission sent a resolution to Governor Dunne and state bodies recommending funding be limited to the new state hospital for the insane at Alton and the epileptic colony site. It also urges delaying a new boys school until St Charles capacity reaches 1,000 or 1,200. The plan advocates using St Charles farms and plant to meet that capacity. A statewide Progressive party conference is set for Springfield April 28 and 29 to establish a permanent speakers bureau, legislative reference bureau, and a permanent campaign fund. International speakers include former United States Senator Beveridge.
