Wonk Bros trial of Goodman mining machine at Troy mine
Local report details tests of a new Goodman coal mining machine in Troy No.3 mine by Wonk Bros Coal & Coke Co. The 2.5 ton machine aims to undercut coal before blasting and could reduce costs from 61 to 4.9 cents per ton with better power supply. If successful, six to eight machines and a larger power plant are planned, boosting steady work and expanding Troy’s mining profile.
