Ten Years Of George B Hatt Marriage Celebrated

Monilay Inez marked the tenth anniversary of Mr and Mrs George B Hatt with a large gathering of friends. They were entertained with a long table of gifts and host and hostess received guests warmly. The evening featured conversation games and dancing as guests wished them many happy returns.

Turbulent Regular Meeting of The Burphies Club

A stormy session last week stirred debate within The Burphies on temperance and prohibition. Dr J A Ward advocated temperance while Dr Noel and others raised procedural objections under constitutional rules. Visitors including Benjamin Kinion and Joseph Bir khead gave addresses as Mrs Woolfolk and Miss Light read a paper critiquing the Union with a sharp motto.

Uncle Dick Estes returns from three weeks abroad bragging of fishing exploits near Millwood. Misses Ella and Mattie Shaw visited from Olney. Mrs. Patty Myers supplied them with hats. Rev. Pattrick preached at the Christian church. Squire Janes appeared cheerful after illness in the family. Mrs. J. L. Coffey, wife of Squire Coffey, died on Friday after fainting on her way from church. Mrs. A., born in 1807, came to the county in 1896, aged about 71, with relatives at her side at her passing. Dr. Jesse Coffey mourns abroad in Texas. The funeral sermon was by Rev. Baker at Oak Grove church. large attendance and grange members attended the burial at Oak Grove cemetery.
