Beaten With His Own Club In Town Encounter
In Trunk Point vicinity resident Elmore carried a two foot hickory club into town. Deputy Marshal Ellis seized it suspecting weapon use. Wright Nichols then grabbed the club and questioned Elmore about intent. Elmore claimed he brought it to town to kill an alien but during denial he reached for a stone and was struck on the temple. He left the scene. Reports say this was their second meeting and the quarrel stemmed from Elmore taking a boy named Ben Ross from Nichols' house in absentia, with Elmore previously disputing wages for the boy.
