The council on Thursday last appointed a sanitary committee of Jumice Brown George W Colbert and John McDonald to examine the town for nuisances deficient sewerage and ventilation and report to the town marshal. Premises owners will be notified and if nuisances are not abated within time the council will act at owners expense. The committee faces a heavy task amid widespread filth and cholera fears and citizens are urged to assist with information.
Mr M W Woolf of the Industrial age was jailed Tuesday evening with bail set at 100 after Justice Martin found reasonable grounds for detention. The public opinion hints at innocence of any fraud intent as he left for St Louis to handle interests, while the transfer of the Age occurred without his knowledge.
The new road overseer James Murphy Esq has repaired sections of the Oulsville road long feared by travelers and a county reproach. The improvements reflect well on his diligence and the county’s attention to road quality.
