The column compiles court schedules lodges secretaries and local notices. It notes Troy Lodge meetings and a citadel organization, a colored picnic, tax and bread procurement issues, and ongoing public events such as a barbecue and a camp meeting with community figures referenced.
The Burr Oat vicinity held a large barbecue last Saturday with about twenty five hundred people. Attendees reported perfect order and generous hospitality. KR Allen, master of the state Grange, spoke for two hours on agricultural oppression and discrimination. J W Perkine followed with an hourlong address. County candidates attended but avoided stump speeches. A Grange meeting convened and delegates from the county prepared to travel to Jefferson City Monday morning for the state convention.
The record notes the marriage between James Hickhead formerly of Troy and Miss Janie deniloge in Douglas County Oregon on August 2, 1874.
Fragmentary OCR shows a note from August 59 1874 mentioning the wife of Jomph Hy Allen, of a place, and a daughter. details are unclear and partially garbled.
