Joseph F Huckstep a ship fitter 1/c arrived home in Troy with his sister Miss Susie Huckstep after being at sea when his ship was sunk by the enemy. He swam to a rescue ship spending about an hour in the water and bears a scar from the torpedo impact. The vessel went down in the Atlantic on the last day of May.
