Farm Bureau Honors Virginia Wells at Strawberry Ice Cream Supper
The Lincoln County Farm Bureau Young Farmers held their fourth annual strawberry ice cream supper in Troy on June 15. Guests, including retiring secretary Virginia Wells after 26 years, received gifts and checks totaling about 500 dollars. notable attendees included John Young and other county officials. Little Christina Lenk won a free trip to Holiday Hill from a radio contest.

Fourth of July Fireworks in Troy Draws Regional Visitors
Lincoln and adjacent counties are invited to attend the Troy Fourth of July celebration at Fairgrounds Park featuring a parade and a big fireworks display sponsored by the Troy Chamber of Commerce and the Jaycees. The event is part of a long running program supported since 1938 by the American Legion of Missouri, recognizing youth programs nationwide. The 1973 American Legion Boys State of Missouri will convene with 961 boys from 114 counties and St. Louis City attending.

Missouri Model Bank Funds Start With Citizens Bank of Troy
State Treasurer James I. Spainhower presented the first check under the Missouri Model for the Investment of Inactive State Funds to Leon Hall, president of Citizens Bank of Troy, which has just received its state charter. The $100,000 deposit lasts one year at current 7 percent rate, aimed to help new banks and stimulate Missouri's economy while remaining nonpartisan and market-rate.

Cuivre River Electric Coop Receives REA Loan Approval
The Free Press reports a telegram from Senator Stuart Symington, Senator Thomas Eagleton, and Rep. William Hungate announcing Rural Electrification Administration approval of a $2,484,000 loan to Cuivre River Electric Cooperative of Troy. The funds finance 78 miles of lines, serve 1,271 additional consumers, and fund system improvements for Pike, Lincoln, Montgomery, St. Charles and Warren counties.

Timothy Brockmeyer Dies In One Car Accident
Timothy Ray Brockmeyer 17 of Hawk Point died Thursday June 14 in a one car crash on Highway 47 west of Troy. The 1965 Ford Mustang overturned after leaving the S curve. coroner Dr. W E Newberry called death instantaneous from a basilar skull fracture and broken neck. Funeral mass Saturday at St Marys Hawk Point. He was a Buchanan High School graduate and worked for Phil Beck Motors Troy. Survived by parents and four sisters.

Mrs. Jewel C. Fredde R N received an award for more than 242 hours of Red Cross nursing at Lincoln County Bloodmobile visits in Troy on Friday June 15.
