Tripoli Panthers return home this Friday night to host undefeated Dunkerton Raiders in the Homecoming celebration. Previously, Tripoli’s three game win streak ended with a 18-14 loss at Janesville as Sickles and Bowles led the Wildcats to victory. The Janesville offense moved quickly in the first half, while Tripoli battled back in the second half but fell just short, with a late push near Janesville’s five-yard line failing to convert.

Road Rock Program Starts in Bremer County
Bremer County moves ahead with road rock resurfacing as contracts awarded four months ago come into force. Bell and Sons of Grundy Center won the western half bid at 77,195.80 for 42,185 tons and 50,500 tons to be crushed screened and loaded. Paul Nielman Construction of Sumner bid 96,236.00 for the eastern half with 48,865 tons and 5,500 crushed and loaded. Groundwork underway in the western half with eastern work expected soon.

Tripoli High students gear up for homecoming with a Thursday pep rally at 3:00 p.m. public invited. Friday features a grade school to junior high float parade at 2:30 p.m. queen and attendants to be announced at the rally and appear in the parade. Halftime acts and band performance precede Friday festivities. A 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. dance follows the game with crowning of the queen by Co captain Fred Hildebrandt and Doug Bell as master of ceremonies. Sophomore class selling homecoming ribbons for 75 cents admitting to the dance. Student council sponsors the event.

Funeral Services Held Friday for Raymond Grover at Frederika
Funeral services were held Friday at St. John's Lutheran church in Frederika for Raymond A. Grover 71. Burial followed in Alcock cemetery with Rev. Lloyd Bair in charge. Grover, born July 30, 1889, in Frederika, lived with the Jungbluts in Tripoli after being orphaned, married Nellie Breda in 1914, ran a general store in Frederika until 1958, and died after emergency surgery and a stroke at Sumner Community Hospital on September 27. Survivors include four children and eleven grandchildren. his wife having died in 1960.

Second Damage Suit Is Filed as Result Of July Accident
A second damage suit against George Joyce of Tampa and his employer follows the July crash at the 63 93 junction that killed five Cedar Rapids family members. Ralph Trimble, 19, Cedar Rapids, seeks 1 430 in damages. Trimble and Gunter Tuchel, 24, Cedar Rapids, were injured when Joyce’s semi struck their car and hit the family car. Tuchel had also filed a suit. Joyce was found guilty of failing to yield part of the roadway in a justice court case appealed to district court.
