Tripoli's Panthers defeated Janesville Wildcats 26 to 0 on homecoming night. Captain Phil Snyder led the rushing, with Denny Olejniczak adding a long TD run and a pass for the extra point, while a strong line and standout defense carried the win. Snyder totaled 90 yards on 14 carries as Tripoli improves to 2-2 with four games left. Janesville’s Junior Mills was the top ballcarrier for the visitors.

Tripoli High School crowned Nadean Bolte queen of the 1955 Homecoming during halftime of the Tripoli Janesville game. Bolte, daughter of Ralph and Mrs. Bolte, was chosen from six by the student body with attendants Jean Chapin Kay Holm and Trudy Nerge. The junior class float "Wake the Town and Tell the People We Beat Janesville" won $5 top prize. A bonfire snake-dance kicked off festivities followed by a parade, pep talks, and a gym dance after the game.

Jay L. Bender 76 Father of Mrs Price Buried Tuesday
Funeral services were held Tuesday for Jay Lewis Bender 76 formerly of Grove Hill. He died Sunday morning at his daughter’s home Independence of coronary occlusion. Born March 10 1879 in Clayton County he was a painter in Waterloo and later a Grove Hill farmer. He is survived by his wife four daughters a brother and fourteen grandchildren. Burial was in Grove Hill cemetery Readlyn with rites by Rev Ola Campbell.
