Damage reports include three school buses with punctured tires at Tripoli School, costing about 1820 dollars for replacement tires. Bremer County Sheriff's Office investigates amid additional vandalism at a bowling alley, a used car lot, and a church break in with beer and marijuana odor noted.
Ten area churches join a special Thanksgiving Eve service at 8:00 p.m. in the Tripoli High School auditorium. The service focuses on gratitude and the drought relief program Operation Haylift with donations to aid agricultural neighbors.
Bremer County completed clinic tallies and Sumner county reported 1 732 participants. Bremer County doctors administered 1000 doses of serum to elderly residents under the county wide program led by Health Nurse Marie Zelle. The Tripoli clinic photo shows Rev. Kpoli Mill sold to new owner manager Souhrada and renamed Farm Products Inc. The firm will sell Supersweet Feeds fertilizer and seeds with BP Feeds dealership continuing. Dave Souhrada will oversee transition with Miller family. open house planned December 1 2 3 at 103 North Main Street Tripoli.
A grass fire on November 19 spread from a 44 by 90 foot machine shed at Schwemm Farm north of Highway 63 to nearby structures. Losses included a baler, elevator, four wagons with flare boxes, a chopper, manure spreader, 200 bales of straw, 175 bushels of beans and other machinery. No total loss estimate available.
The Denver club sport wrestling program schedules a Wednesday gathering after a December 1 meeting. Public attendance is invited as the team reports a 3-2 record and aims to boost community support.
Regular and seventh grade members are invited to a December 8 p.m. meeting in the Economics room at Ripoli High School. A $2 gift contribution is suggested. Guests include Ms. Orlyn and members Jerry Brase, Mrs. Ladage, Mrs. Wm., and Mrs. Wilbert.
Keith A. Gruenberg is promoted to senior master sergeant at Hill Air Force Base Ogden Utah. He serves as base career advisor with the Air Force Logistics Command. Gruenberg is a 1959 Fredericksburg Community High School graduate. His wife Judy is the daughter of Fredericksburg residents.
Readlyn mourns 92 year old Agnes Thran with funeral services at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Born in Germany she came to the United States at age two and operated a Readlyn meat market with her husband for 38 years. Surviving son Oscar and grandchildren are named with six great grandchildren. Cleveland Funeral Home of Readlyn directed services.
Mr and Mrs Harry Lindenberg marked fifty years of marriage with an open house at Maple Hills Country Club on Sunday November 14. Guests traveled from Readlyn Jesup Fairbank Oelwein Clarksville Sumner Frederika Fredericksburg Cresco Dunkerton Waterloo Cedar Falls Waverly Shell Rock Ankeny Washburn and Tripoli with greetings from California Nebraska and Illinois.
Bremer County Conservation Board announces snowmobile permits are required for all snowmobiles in county conservation areas. Permits are available at local listings including Sumner Frederika Plainfield Waverly Tripoli and from area residents and at the Conservation Headquarters in Tripoli.
Bremer County 4-H seeks host families to house 11 to 17 year old Japanese youths for a four week stay in late July as part of the Labo International Exchange Foundation program. About 4-6 Japanese adults will accompany the youths. host families may or may not have children. Applications due January 31, 1977 at the Tripoli Extension Office.
From November 10 through Wednesday November 24 customers at Tripoli businesses can register for Holiday Bonus Bucks drawings. Fifteen winners will receive 15 dollars each in five dollar Bonus Bucks. the first drawing on Friday posts names, with pickups at Ruhr Chevrolet Buick during business hours. The second drawing is planned for December 27, with a new registration period starting Friday morning.
The Girl Scout paper drive runs Friday November 26 from 3 30 to 5 00 p m. No magazines accepted.
Art Meyer, previously hospitalized at University Hospital in Iowa City, was released and returned to his home on Monday.
Frederika received the top ICB honor at a Des Moines banquet where Governor Ray presented a 450 cash prize. Frederika’s under 250 population projects included a new community building and bicentennial activities, with Stanley Feuchtwanger honored as top contributor.
Iowa residents must renew 1976 snowmobile registrations by December 31. 1977 registrations cost 6.50 and can be filed at the county recorder. Copies of new regulations available at recorder offices and Iowa Conservation Commission offices in Des Moines or by writing to the commission.
