Rural Fire Protection Vote Planned in Three Iowa Townships
Franklin Fremont and Maxfield townships will vote on rural fire taxation at the election day. Eligible voters include those living outside Tripoli and Readlyn corporate districts. Bremer county has four townships and most Iowa townships have approved the plan. Insurance rates are expected to fall 3 to 6 percent overall. Tripoli football closes 1960 with a 46-0 conference victory over Fredericksburg to finish 5-1 in Cedar-Wapsie play and 7-1 overall. Senior QB Doug Bell opened with a 95 yard kickoff return TD, followed by a 75 yard Bell TD run and a 14-0 first quarter. Claire Duecker added an 80 yard TD run, and a Bell-Duecker 77 yard pass set up more scoring. The Panthers, using reserves late, finished with six touchdowns and a decisive win as the game ended with momentum for next season.
