The Bremer County ASC committee reports over 600 farmers filed applications to participate in the new Feed Grain Program. They predict 40 to 45 percent of Bremer County farmers will take part with early sign up noted across Iowa. Plans aim to contact those not yet signed to explain benefits.
The Bremer County Farm Bureau Ladies will tour Red Wing Minnesota for their annual event on Wednesday June 7 visiting Red Wing Pottery and Shoe factory. Reservations due May 27 with committee members. bus boards at Knitwel Farm Bureau Office and Junction 188-63 with pickup spots noted on reservations. Cost is 5.50 dollars and checks payable to Farm Bureau Women's Group.
A long list of relatives and friends from Cedar Falls, Fredericksburg, Sumner, Readlyn, Waverly, and surrounding towns joined Mrs. Ruth Woodcock and other hosts for birthday observances and meals. Attendance included the Wikners, Moellers, and many extended families, with seniors visiting through the day and evening.
The May meeting of the Fremont Farm Bureau unit was held Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. H worth with Mrs. John Prestich and Mrs. K Heeworth as hosts. Eighteen ladies attended as Mrs. Jene Weel and Mrs. Elmer Tonne led the lesson Making of Our Home Furnishings with tips and arrangements offered. The group closed lessons until September awaiting an organizational note on furniture.
