Tripoli Community School District Receives $28,812 in Title I Funds
Tripoli Community Schools gain $28,812 in Title I funds to run a remedial reading program and support industrial arts for eligible students. A summer remedial course runs June 12 to July 21 with transportation and materials provided. A kindergarten and first grade teaching assistant, Mrs Earl Jacobs, was hired. Federal funds for the district were cut 20 percent from the previous year.

Health officials end mobile X ray testing in county
The Bremer County Tuberculosis and Health Association will offer no further mass testing with mobile X ray units. A contact program remains in effect with listed locations and times for residents to report if they are positive reactors or have skin test results. The schedule includes Wapsie Walgh School and several other sites on May 18 and May 19 with free X ray screenings sponsored by local health departments.

Tractor Mishap Claims Life of Harry Koepke 66
A 66 year old Denver area farmer Harry Koepke died at Allen Memorial hospital Waterloo from injuries after a tractor accident on his farm. He fell from the tractor and was run over by the disc. Funeral services were held at St Pauls United Church of Christ Denver with burial in Fairview cemetery. Survivors include his widow Mrs Paul Koepke Waverly daughter Mrs Donald Schneer Tripoli and five grandchildren. Matthias Abbas Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Hilda Brase 77 were held Tuesday May 9 at St John Lutheran Western Douglas. Rev W H Lindquist officiated with burial in the church cemetery. She died Saturday at Allen Memorial Hospital Waterloo after one day there. She was born March 13 1890 in Bremer County and married August Brase March 16 1911 at Siegel. Survivors include two daughters three sons 24 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Kaiser Carson Funeral Home Waverly handled arrangements.

Bremer County Head Start Enrollments Open for Summer
Bremer county offers a summer Head Start program for four and five year olds with classes in Tripoli and Waverly starting Monday June 12. The program, run by the Bremer county Board of Education under Ledhard Miller, uses purposeful play to aid disadvantaged children and is funded mainly by a grant from the Office of Economic Opportunity. She is a 1966 graduate of Waterloo School of Practical Nursing and previously worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home Sumner. Mrs Sommer remains on staff until June 17 after leading since September 1966. An organ fund near completion with $118 owed, donations continue, organ used for Wednesday worship and other church services.
