The senior class of Tripoli high cant will stage the three act comedy Arsenic and Old Lace in the high school gym on Friday April 9 at 8 pm. The cast features Barbara Dreyer as Abby Brewster with a host of supporting players and a full crew handling sound lighting costumes and makeup.

Marjorie Jean Oltrogge and Dalton Kowalsky were married Sunday at 2 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church Crane Creek. Officiating was Dr Em Fuchs in a double ring ceremony. attendants included Nora Kowalsky and Roxie Jeisner. The bride wore white satin with lace, a cathedral train, and fielded a bouquet of white carnations. best man was Lloyd Oltrogge.

Sumner Youth Charged With Drunken Driving

Sumner youth Harold Schumacher aged 17 was charged with drunken driving after a Waterloo arrest at 4 a.m. Tuesday. His car struck a tree and a light pole, damaging property and injuring none. Bond was set at 500 dollars.

Kowalsky-Oltrogge Nuptials Tie Tripoli Couple to La Porte City

The wedding of the Kowalsky and Oltrogge families featured Arnold Kowalsky and Harvey Kowalsky as brothers of the groom with Eugene Oltrogge as the bride’s brother. Dorothy Koschmeder and Shirley Oltrogge served as candlelighters and ushers. Guests from several Iowa towns and La Crosse Wisconsin attended. The bride, a 1952 Tripoli graduate, and the groom, Tri Poli class of 1948, plan to reside in La Porte City after a Chicago honeymoon.

March Bremer county bar docket adds 5 new criminal cases

Five new criminal cases and twenty new law cases have been added to the Bremer county district court March term docket. The session, presided by Hon. M. H. Kepler, begins March 22. Notable criminal entries include State of Iowa vs. Jerry S. Halper on three counts of cheating by false pretenses, State of Iowa vs. Joseph James Russell, operating motor vehicle while intoxicated, and State of Iowa vs. Lloyd Erwin Hughes OMVI. Bodermann undergoes emergency surgery at Sumner hospital

Robert Bodermann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bodermann and a student at Iowa State Teachers College, was admitted to Sumner Community Hospital Saturday for emergency surgery.

William J Schultz obituary follows service in Rock Island

William J Schultz aged 39 died March 6 after a long illness at a Veterans hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services were held March 9 with burial in Rock Island National Cemetery Illinois. Born August 20, 1914 in Bremer County Iowa he served in the 168th Infantry Division from May 1941 to 1945 and resided in Waterloo after his discharge. Survived by sister Liesette Lobeck of Tripoli and five brothers Wilmer Evansdale Carl Waterloo Ralph Herman and Stanley all of San Francisco. Preceded in death by his parents and a brother Lloyd.

Margaret Fink named president of the VFW Auxiliary at a Tuesday meeting in Tripoli Town Hall. Officers were elected with Fink as president and Pearl Hunemuller as senior vice president. The group voted $5 to the Red Cross and planned cooperation on a retarded children program.

Six Hurt En Route To Tripoli In Two Car Crash

Six persons traveling to Tripoli to visit relatives were injured in a Wednesday night crash one half mile south of Denver on Highway 63. Injured were Walter Garland and his wife, Larry Garland, Arthur and Richard Wolf, and Mrs Wolf, plus driver Dr. Frank A. Haffa who was not hurt. Haffa, a retired Waterloo dentist, is free on bond while appealing a manslaughter conviction.

Van Wert, Farm Bureau figure, dies in Eldora crash

R S Pat Van Wert of Hampton, known for Farm Bureau work, was killed Friday evening when his car was struck by a speeding vehicle at the highway 57 and 299 intersection west of Eldora. He is brother of Mrs Mervyn Ormston. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Hampton.

Mr and Mrs Conrad Sell celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary Sunday hosting friends and relatives at their home. Frederika to Get New 2.385 Mile Farm Road Project

Iowa Highway Commission announced an new 2.385 mile farm to market road from Frederika north to be built this summer. Contracts awarded in Ames with 11 bidders and Mark Eischeid Construction Co. of New Hampton submitting the low bid of 13,552 dollars. The route extends north from town about 1.5 miles then east and west 0.5 miles to connect with Highway 63.

Politicians Share Spotlight At Meet Of Commercial Club

Two veteran politicians highlighted the Tripoli Commercial Club meeting at the town hall. Arch McFar lane of Waterloo detailed Iowa’s farm and industrial strength in a speech on My State Iowa. Wm. F. Krueger, longtime Tripoli official, received a rod and reel. A Good Friday half day closing was approved. A summer youth recreation program study was authorized. June 7 highway widening bids for Highway 93 were announced. A membership drive is planned next week. Guests included Dave Denton of the Waterloo Courier and Rev E F Puhlmann.

Florene Zabel Weds Elmer Schweer Friday At St. Peter's Church

Florene Zabel of Sumner and Elmer Schweer of Waterloo were married last Friday at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church with 175 guests. Rev E F Puhlmann officiated the double ring ceremony. The bride wore ice blue with pink and white flowers. Ruth Zabel was maid of honor. Lavern Schweer was best man. After a reception at the bride’s home, the couple planned to live in Waterloo where the groom works at Rath Packing Co.
