Break-ins Reported at Local Businesses

Bremer county deputies logged multiple break-ins last night and this morning. Offenders entered through windows and doors, stealing cash from a cafe gaming machine and small amounts from two stations, with total losses around 284 dollars. Station managers reported the incidents are under investigation by Bremer County authorities.

Legion Officers Elected for Matthias American Post 1967 68

The Matthias American Legion Post held its regular meeting and elected officers for 1967-68. Alfred Buhrow was named vice commander, Lovell adjutant, Paul Buenneke service officer, Harold Dillard sergeant at arms, Rollis Krueger historian, Arthur Sass service officer, and Dillard Chapman chaplain. They will assume duties in August after state Legion events.

Susan Carroll Elected State 4-H Vice President

Susan Carroll of Frederika was chosen state 4-H vice president at the state 4-H conference on June 22. She will join eight state officers, assist with exhibits at the State Fair, help plan 4-H programs, and help run the 1968 state conference. She has held multiple 4-H and community roles and was a senior at Tripoli Community School.

Pool Offers Advanced and Adult Swim Lessons

About 210 children enrolled in the Fred and Tripoli swimming program at the pool. Dave Van Ahn says eight sessions remain open for new joiners with a registration fee and parental permission. Adult lessons run daily from 5 to 6 with details for enrollment.

W. J. Kelling was re appointed to a six year term as Bremer county assessor starting January 1 1968. Leslie Strottman was re appointed to the Bremer county board of review for six years from January 1 1968. Other board members include Bump Sumner and Henry R Eggena. Rates for on-farm reseal grain storage under the 1967-68 price-support loan are unchanged from 1966-67. Dalton Meyer announces rates aligned with UGSA in commercial warehouses. Doyle Adams 34 of Boone is appointed assistant superintendent of the county conservation activities section of the State Conservation Commission. He previously led wildlife research at Boone and managed unit game efforts at Sweet's Marsh and Colyn. The Tripoli Community School board approved Karen Anderson as 11th and 12th grade English teacher for the 1967 68 year. Private First Class Danny L. Brase son of Mr and Mrs Ray Brase Tripoli received the Army Commendation Medal with V device for heroism in Vietnam on November 3 and 4 1966. He moved under enemy fire aided a wounded platoon leader and selflessly assisted a radio operator despite being wounded himself.
