Record April milk output tops 1956 in Iowa report
Bremer County Extension Director notes April milk production rose 1.2 percent vs last year and challenged by dairy support shifts. Iowa State University farm economist Francis Kutish says improved culling prospects and slower grain feeding growth may shape the year. First four months of 1962 show 2 percent higher output than 1961, with total 1962 likely to exceed by about 2 billion pounds despite possible late-year decline. Cattle markets weaken with prices for fed cattle down and feeder price expectations easing through summer and fall, weather remaining the decisive factor.

Feed grain inventories and acreage shifts under study
Farm Economist Francis Kutish of Iowa State outlines a two phase approach to feed grain and livestock issues. Immediate aim is to cut excessive on hand inventories while long term goal reduces the size of the grain production plant to meet yearly demand. He notes 1961 stocks may drop to 74 million tons by Oct 1 1961 and 70 million by Oct 1 1962 with possible 63 to 65 million by 1965 under current policies and average weather.
