Supreme Court Rejects Appeal by Iowa County Auditors
The U S Supreme Court upheld a federal three judge panel on Iowa reapportionment. The case kept the temporary plan in effect creating 59 senators and 124 representatives, while the proposed permanent plan is dead for not meeting constitutional standards. Labor leaders Davis and Lewis anticipate the 1965 legislature will revise plans and standardize county supervisor districts. Governor Hughes favors two House system but may tolerate the interim plan unless sizes are reduced.
