County Extension Activities in Bremer County 1963
In Bremer County federal state and county governments funded and guided extension work with Iowa State University resources. James Kerr chaired the county extension council overseeing agriculture business and 4-H, with Gene Vincent as director Pearl Pardee as home economist and Paul Miller as summer assistant. The staff made nearly 700 visits to offices and homes and handled about 2000 calls while issuing over 400 press releases and 7000 publications. Educational radio segments aired 83 times reaching many residents. 184 meetings drew 12 495 attendees. Adult leader trainings numbered 10 and youth leader trainings 34, plus numerous county events such as Family Counseling, Livestock Nutrition School, Hat Workshop, Clothing Lessons, Farm and Home Management School, Fruit Tree Pruning, Kitchen Planning and Clinic. County leaders and 4‑H members participated heavily in the program.
