Voters in the Tripoli Community School district backed a 410000 bond to build a new high school and remodel the current building for a hot lunch program. The tally was 636 in favor 67 opposed and 10 spoiled ballots among 713 total votes. The measure passed 89.2 percent.

Funeral at Waterloo Friday for Brother Of Tripoli Resident
Waterloo funeral services will be held Friday afternoon for Henry Pries 55 of Tripoli notable as brother of Arnold Pries. He died Monday afternoon near Highway 63 in an auto truck mishap likely from a heart attack. Born October 28 1901 in Bremer county he married Elsie Kroblin in 1922 at Waverly. He worked for Rath Packing Co and is survived by his wife eight daughters four sons his mother three sisters two brothers and seven grandchildren.

Fog and Ice Cause Weekend Area Auto Accidents
Slippery pavements and dense fog led to several traffic mishaps over the weekend with no serious injuries reported. Edward Bennett of Tripoli avoided major harm when his 1957 Ford rear-ended a semi trailer north of the Highways 63 and 57 junction, sustaining about 800 dollars in damage. Bennett and passenger James Keough of Denver were treated for minor injuries at Allen Memorial hospital. The Rev. A C Woodcock, longtime Congregational church minister, slid into the rear of a Waverly school bus east of Waverly, suffering bumps and bruises as his 1939 Ford sustained minor damage.

Friday noon is the deadline for filing nomination papers for candidates to the Tripoli Community School district board of directors. Secretary Robert H. Kuhrt reminded residents. So far two candidates have filed Walter Lohmann and Lawrence Snelling, who seek seats to succeed themselves.
