Tripoli businessmen sponsor a free pancake and sausage breakfast on February 22 at Town Hall from 10 30 a m. Service includes syrup butter coffee and milk with plates and utensils provided. The event invites all residents to attend as thanks for past patronage and to enjoy a family friendly community meal.
A state representative from an unspecified county announces plans to seek reelection. Tripoli Commercial Club holds regular meeting Monday February 19 at Town Hall with 7:00 dinner by Faith United Church of Christ. Guest Vern Shield from Waverly will present Africa travel slides before the business session and attendance contacts for dinner reservations.
The Jaycee Wives announce a regular meeting set for February 19 at 7 30 P M at the home of Joan Struck. The event invites members to discuss upcoming activities and group plans.
Potter Siding Cooperative Creamery Co. held its annual meeting Tuesday at the creamery. Walter Lohmann and Lester Peters were re-elected directors for three years. The board reappointed Rathbone as president, Miller as vice president, Lohmann as treasurer, and Kallenbach as secretary. Receipts totaled 591,282.48 dollars. milk intake reached 11,871,634 pounds and cream 223,077 pounds. Floyd Primus remains plant manager.
Sumner high school will present the annual swing show Escapade in Sound on February 16 and 17 at 8 p m in the junior high gym.
Fredericksburg girls win the Cedar-Wapsie title with a 13 1 conference mark as Tripoli trails at 12 2. Denver and Wapsie Valley share the boys championship at 12 2 after a Tuesday 87 52 win by Wapsie over Tripoli. Willis Hildebrandt leads Tripoli with 12 points while Steve Heinemann scores 20 for Wapsie Valley.
Bury s Janesville beats Plainfield 68 to 67, Denver defeats Dunkerton 79 to 52, Fredericksburg bests Turkey Valley 49 to 39. Plainfield rebounds with 75 67 victory over Janesville, Dunkerton tops Denver 60 to 35, Fredericksburg dominates Turkey Valley 51 to 31.
A Friday afternoon Waverly senior citizens meeting included Mrs. Fred Deterding Mrs. Amanda Hune Muller Mrs. John Berlin Mrs. Renetta Krueger Mrs. Edw Rosenthal Mrs. P L Crittenden Mrs. Mabel Hunemuller and Mrs. Nora Peacock. Some helped with the work project and some with the lunch.
Interstate Power Co began reconstructing Tripoli’s electric distribution facilities last week. The project adds a new feeder from the substation splitting the system into two, installs another automatic switch for reliability, and rebuilds the West Main Street alley line. Extensive work in residential areas includes new poles and heavier wire at an anticipated cost of about $21,000.
Tripoli VFW Post will host a family fish fry on Friday February 16 at the Post Home. Serving runs 5 30 to 8 00 p m with admission charged. The general public is invited and an advertisement appears elsewhere in this issue.
Colburn Feed Mill Division will hold its annual appreciation day on Thursday Feb 15 at the new office quarters 105 North Main Tripoli. Farmers and their wives are invited to attend the open house from 9 a m to 4 p m. Refreshments will be served and prizes offered.
Theo Kelling returned home Friday from Allen Memorial hospital where he had been a patient. Mr and Mrs Arthur Bunger called on him in Waterloo to wish him well.
Election of officers was held at the Senior Citizens meeting on February 7. Elected were Mrs. Otto Buenger president Alfred Koch vice president Mrs E W Kirchhoff secretary and Raymond McKeown treasurer. Next meeting is March 6 marking the group’s first anniversary in Tripoli.
Mrs. Walter Garland of Iowa Falls was admitted to the hospital last Tuesday and remains hospitalized. She is the daughter of Mrs. Clara Niemeyer.
Voters in the Sburg and Frederick f amity districts are called to a February 21 election on a 34000?0 bond issue. Ballots will be open 12 to 7 pm at Hall. The plan includes adding four classrooms and a central library to the elementary building and expanding the high school with music facilities home economics space more locker and shower rooms and a library instructional materials center.
Emma K. Bunger a former Tri Poli resident died this Wednesday at Mercy hospital Waverly. Funeral rites set for Friday at Grace Lutheran Tripoli with Rev A C Koengeter officiating burial in the church cemetery. She was born March 20 1885 in Bremer county daughter of Henry and Minna Bergmann. Twice married first to Fred Krueger 1908 then to H H Bunger 1930 both husbands preceded her. She moved to Waverly in 1960 and is survived by stepson Oliver Bunger Marshalltown. Rettig Funeral Home in charge.
Mr and Mrs Fred Brase visited Louis Segebarth in Allen Memorial hospital Waterloo on Wednesday afternoon with Segebarth a patient there.
Mrs. Margaret Smothers will lead the Tripoli Community Chorus in its second Easter cantata presentation Christus by Mendelssohn at Tripoli High School Gym on April 10 at 8 00 p m. Rehearsals begin Sunday February 18 at 1 45 p m in the high school music room with new members welcome.

In Bremer County the American Savings Bank and other banks will be closed Thursday February 22 for Washingtons birthday a national holiday. Postmaster Ray H Fink says star route mail will run and incoming mail will be placed in boxes but there is no rural delivery or counter service that day with usual evening dispatch occurring.
The 20th annual Athlete MagazinePrep All American football team was published in January. Karl Krumm a senior at Tripoli High School was among seven Iowans named to the honorable mention list and appeared on KWWL television Sunday with the other Iowa honorees.
Joe Miller will hold a closing out sale at the farm one mile west and about 1.25 miles south of Tripoli on Thursday Feb 22 starting at noon. Items include cattle feed and a full line of machinery plus household articles. Auctioneer Bill Dean and the American Savings Bank will clerk the sale.
Dr and Mrs L J Magnall and Tony stayed at the John Magnall home in Utica IL over the weekend to visit his hospitalized mother. Wm Magnall accompanied them and will visit at the Magnall home.
Tripoli High School will host the Class A boys sectional basketball tournament from February 26 to 29. Six teams compete. first round pairings set for Monday night with Denver vs Fredericksburg at 7:00 p.m. Nashua has a bye. Tripoli receives a bye and faces the Plainfield-Sumner winner in the Tuesday semifinal at 8:30. Finals February 29 at 7:30 p.m., with the champion advancing to district play March 6.
Iowa Highway Patrol license examiners will be at Tripoli Town Hall on Saturday February 17 from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Renewals accepted until noon but tests end at 11:00 a.m. The examining team will not return to Tripoli until March 16.
Tripoli High sends five wrestlers to the district tourney on February 23-24 after sectional action. Advancers include runners up Steve Blasberg Curtis Neuendorf and Roger Buchholz with wins and losses detailed in the bracket. Paul A Zander and Logen Harms also reach finals with multiple pins and decisions in the qualifying rounds.

Mr and Mrs Herman Bahlmann observe their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house Sunday Feb 18 from 2 to 4 PM at St John’s Lutheran church parlors Frederika. They wed Feb 21 1918 at Faith United Church of Christ Tripoli. They have seven children 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren one granddaughter is deceased. A family dinner follows at 4 30 PM.
The Tripoli men's city bowling tournament is underway at the local lanes with singles and doubles completed over the weekend. Team and all-event winners will be named tonight. Singles winners in the singles competition are:

The Tripoli Woman's Club marks its 32nd anniversary on February 21 with a 6 30 dinner at Grace Lutheran parlors. Grace Lydia Circle will serve. all members and husbands invited. Tickets are 150 per plate. Dr L J Magnall will present slides from a European tour not shown before.
