Adult education at Tri poli Community Schools begins Monday Jan 3 at 7 30 p m in line high school. Five classes offered include welding knitting beginner knitting advanced knitting and modern math. Driver education will be added later. Registration at first session Jan 3. Total enrolled so far 34.
Bremer county Board of Supervisors opened bids for a new maintainer with two plows. Hanstrom-Hubly Tractor Co. Cedar Rapids won at 22,600 plus trade in of a Caterpillar 112 with wing and plow. Gibbs-Cook Equipment Co. Mason City bid 24,390. The machine will be stationed in Franklin and Dayton townships.
Anna Scheve aged 89 died Saturday at Sunset Home Denver. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Faith United Church of Christ with Rev E F Puhlmann officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with casketbearers Fred Heidemann Rudolph Piegers F F Carstensen Paul Bremer Leslie Schmidt Henry Lahmann. Survivors include sister Emma Sien Tripoli seven nieces and one nephew.
New Jersey residents Mr and Mrs Franklin Koch of Spotwood visited from Sunday through Tuesday with his parents Mr and Mrs Alfred Koch.
Weather readings taken daily at 6 p m except Tuesday and at 12 noon by J M Haydon. Band Mothers plan a January 5 meeting at 7 30 in the high school home economics room with hostesses and entertainment coordinators named. Calendars have arrived.
Tripoli businessmen held a pre Christmas promotion with 45 turkey dinners awarded. The final 15 dinners were claimed at the town hall by Ray Kuethe Fred Thies Mrs. Fred Rathe Kay Ormston Willis Hildebrandt Leta Meyer Barbara Schmidt David Drape Alice Lageschulte Carolyn Sommerfelt Paul Kappmey Alfred Hahn Mrs. Robert Kerr Don Dohrmann Bonnie Hermann.
There will be no window service or rural mail delivery on January 1st. Postmaster Ray H. Fink says incoming morning mail will be placed in boxes but no outgoing dispatch will occur.
Funeral services were held in Luverne Minnesota for Adelia Petersen age 88 the mother of Mrs. R O Wikner She is survived by 14 children including Mrs Wikner 59 grandchildren and 106 great grandchildren.
The Bremer County Extension Service reports a busy year with 2,800 adults attending 113 meetings and 4-H information reaching many residents. Highlights include 32 4-H clubs, 15 leader training meetings, soil testing, homemaker workshops, a 600 attendee hobby fair, and 2,700 information requests. Extension staff and volunteers produced publications, radio tapes, and news releases.
Bremer County Conservation Commission purchased 165 acres along the Cedar River about two miles from downtown Waverly. The site will be developed into a County Recreation Park and Game Reserve with picnic areas and camping facilities at a total cost of 4950 dollars.
Tripoli Jaycee chapter sponsors a Teen Hop in Tripoli Town Hall from 8 to 11 PM. Admission is 50 cents. Music provided by Starlight Five.
Tripoli VFW Club board appoints Dan Mast as manager at a special meeting. He succeeds Howard Holm who held the post nearly two years and moves with his family to Nebraska after a government inspector promotion.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe R. Luckie of North Hollywood California are spending the Christmas holidays with their children Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Schmidt of Tripoli Mr. and Mrs. Larry Busse of Fayette and Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Busse of Waverly.
Howard Pigg superintendent of Tripoli Community Schools reminds students that classes will resume Monday January 3 at the regular time after a December 22 dismissal for holidays.
Iowa sectional wrestling tournaments announced for class A and AA with 200 schools. Class A will run Feb 7-8 at eight sites and Feb 9-10 at eight more. class AA Feb 11-12 with 64 teams. Winners advance to four district meets Feb 18-19. Tripoli at Denver includes Ackrey Geneva Denver Dike Janesville Nashua Plainfield Tripoli Wapsie Valley.
Robert Wedemeier of Readlyn set a new high game in the Tripoli Bowl church league on Tuesday night rolling 295 with eight strikes in a row on the Brooklyn side and four solid pocket hits before a miss on the final ball. His 587 series came from 295, 155 and 137 games as Wedemeier bowled for Wehling s Radio and TV of Readlyn, sponsors of the Readlyn team.

An idle Bremer County Veterans Salvage Fund of about 3000 dollars at First National Bank Waverly from World War II is being repurposed as a scholarship loan fund for Bremer county high school seniors. A loan committee will award two 250 dollar loans yearly with 3 percent interest and 12 month repayment, due six months after graduation. Applications due May 1 1966 to Harold Schroeder Readlyn Wilbert Becker Sumner and Don Gosch Sumner. Eligibility includes Bremer county high school seniors or students from nearby counties with Bremer ties and priority to children of service members.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at Matthias-Abbas Funeral Home in Denver for 65 year old Arthur Nicol who died Monday at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery with Rev. E Eugene Wetzel officiating casket bearers are Harvey Meier Henry Rector Floyd Sassmann Lavern Kurtz Otto Gielau and Ernest Dorn. He is survived by his widow Velma two sons Dickie of Denver and Edward at home and three sisters.

Existing closings at 9:00 p.m. include Rettig Furniture and Ray's Clothiers and Cleaners.
The Tripoli Jaycees will pick up Christmas trees Sunday January 2 starting at 1 PM. Residents should place trees on their front lawns for collection.
