Stocking Up Starts With Santa Claus
Santa Claus is portrayed as a romantic figure in legend. St Nicholas began hanging stockings by the chimney after gifting gold to three impoverished daughters, dropping bags through a window or chimney. The custom spread as a holiday ritual. The first U S music teachers convention met in Boston on August 16 1838.
