Busy Saturday Planned for Tripoli Kids With Santa Cash Draw

Tripoli schedules a 1 30 p m free kids show with free movies treats and a 50 prize cash drawing. Santa will visit the lobby after the show to greet children and hand out treats. Last week 450 children attended and organizers expect a larger crowd this week as prize amounts and toys attract local families.

Open House Draws 500 At Warner Electric Remodel

Over 500 attended Warner Electric open house on Saturday celebrating a remodeled and redecorated building. Door prize winners included Mrs. L. H. Fink, C. S. Marrian, Mrs. Davey Smith, Mrs. Lavern Tegtmeier, Chris Bathke, Marian Lampe, Lorenz Meier, Mrs. Otto Lehmkuhl, Mrs. Loraine Schwem, Ernest Miller and others. Coffee and doughnuts were served and favors distributed.

Driver's License Team Schedules Saturday Visit

The driver license examination team returns to Tripoli this Saturday at Town Hall from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Residents with birthdays between now and the next visit on January 18 may obtain permits, following a successful turnout of 80 renewals last time. A decision on monthly visits and a possible permanent site will hinge on local demand through February.

The 1958 Tripoli Businessmen calendar is now available from 42 local merchants and professional men. The calendar, a yearly fixture in Tripoli homes, is free to anyone. Community Chest Drive Exceeds 1958 Quota by 33

Tripoli Community Chest surpassed its 1958 goal of 2720 by 33 reaching 2753 as announced at a board meeting last Thursday. Campaign chairman Alfred Rieck reported final totals to be disbursed to 10 welfare health and recreation groups next year. Terms for two directors expire in February with elections due the second Monday. nominating and auditing committees were appointed to fill vacancies and review operations for the annual February meeting.

Temperatures Turn Mild After Early Deep Freeze in Week

Cold snap pushed to minus two below zero on Wednesday and one below on Thursday before a warm spell lifted. By Sunday the high reached 45 degrees with daytime in the upper 30s to low 40s and nights in the 20s. Farmers gained a break from stubbornly wet, high moisture corn as mild weather continued, aiding this year’s harvest prospects per local observer C W Ryan.
