Louise Bergman Joens died Friday morning August 24 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Waverly after four days as a patient. She was born September 19, 1882 in Bremer County, married Fred Joens in 1900, and farmed there before moving to Tripoli in 1942. She leaves two sons Herbert and Elmer, two daughters Linda Homan and Adella Hartman, plus numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held August 27 at Kaiser Carson Chapel in Waverly with Rev. Gronewold, burial at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Tripoli.
Expressions of gratitude from Mrs. LaVern Schmidt and various families praise flowers, cards, visits, gifts, and memorials received during illness and after loss. Special thanks to Rev. Selberg, Rev. Kappelmann, Grace Church staff, and other friends. Also notes showers for Debra Zander and trip to University of Iowa.
Funeral services were held Monday for Stephen Riedinger 22 at Immaculate Conception Church Sumner with burial at Calvary Cemetery. He graduated Tripoli 1969, served in the U S Air Force, studied at the University of Northern Iowa and worked for Waterloo Farm Systems. He died Friday from electrocution while working on a silo on a Reinbeck farm. He is survived by his parents and a grandmother in Alsace France.
The Jaycee Ettes met August 13 at the VFW home with 8 members present. Kathy Magnall joined as a new member. A fall regional meeting is set for Sept 5 at 7 30. The group will staff the Hobby Fair in October serving the light evening meal. Bev Meyer reported on State Vice President news. A joint note closes the item.
