Festival events run August 11 to 14 in Denver with full schedule including evening programs on August 12 13 and 14. Local organizers announce daily activities and performances across venues.
Community events fill a busy schedule from Monday night housing meeting to Sunday night drawings. Highlights include the Bicentennial Pageant at the High School Gym, a parade Saturday at 10 00 a m, tractor pull at noon, and a two day crafts display at city hall and library with chicken barbecue and dances at the Legion Hall.
Seventeen Tripoli area youths and chaperones depart Grace Lutheran Church to attend the National American Lutheran League Convention in New Orleans with about 30 000 youth. Chaperones are Rev and Mrs Wm Spencer and Al Kuecker. Two air conditioned vans from Crossroads Ford of Waterloo carry CB radios for travel. One CB is owned by Rev Spencer and the other is courtesy of Lavern Hunemuller who owns the second unit.
Doctors in Bremer County set up vaccination clinics offering free Abe Pu vaccine at City Hall on September 11 and 25 and in Frederika on September 18. Clinics run 1 thirty to 3 0 p.m. Dr W B Weeber directs the federally funded program in these communities.
Bremer County residents receive social security benefits with 13 766 beneficiaries including 2 168 retired and 165 disabled. Of total, 1 434 are men, 2 014 women, and 318 children. A vaccination program charges 1.00 per injection with proceeds returned to the U.S. government. Bowling meeting announced for August 17 at 7 30 p.m. in City Hall with contact numbers for teams.
Special Education students at the Tripoli site must register at Tripoli Community High School on August 16 or 17 from 9 to 12 and 1 to 4. In person registration is not required. Book rental is 6 dollars. Lunch tickets cost 4.50 for K to 6 and 5.00 for 7 to 12. Insurance options are 4.00 for K to 6 6.50 for 7 to 9 and 7.50 for 10 to 12 with a 24 hour plan also available. A garage sale is set for Saturday August 14 from 9 to 4 at 502 Second Avenue SW Tripoli Irma Slack residence. Clothing for all ages and other items will be sold.
Area volunteers received honors for Senior Information Service work supporting elderly residents since 1974. Names listed include Claudia Shaner La Porte City Mary Kane Sumner Elda Sassman Read Mitchell Manor Waverly Minnie Nuss Frederika and others in this recognition at Tripoli July 29. The program describes services on taxes transportation Social Security and independence aids.
The Iowa Conservation Commission announced deer license applications for shotgun muzzleloader and bow seasons. Shotgun muzzleloader entries must reach the Des Moines office between August 20 and September 3. Bow licenses available soon. archery licenses can be bought at county recorders or ICC Des Moines office. Shotgun muzzleloader seasons run November 27-30 and December 4-10. bow season runs October 2 to November 26.
The Tripoli Firemen announce the dance will be Friday evening August 27 at the Riviera Ballroom in Janesville. Previous September 3 date canceled. Tickets available from any fireman or at Dick's DX.
Registration for Tripoli Community School occurs Monday and Tuesday August 16 17. High school 9 to 12 reports 9 12 and 1 4 both days. elementary pays book rental and lunch fees. Fees include kindergarten 3 grade 1 6 6 grade 7 12 9 plus tower fee 1 75. Insurance options vary by grade with 24 hour plan. Lunch prices and milk program detailed. school opens August 25 with full day classes and lunch program.
The Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging chartered two free buses for seniors to attend Senior Citizen Day at the State Fair in Des Moines on August 25. Pickup points include Waterloo, Marshalltown, Cedar Falls, and Iowa Falls with return departures at 4:00 p.m. Reservations by August 20 are required.
Mrs Richard Meyer and Mrs Mike Hamann host an open house at A to Z Pre school in the Richard Meyer home. The event is Sunday August 22 from 2 to 4 pm inviting all enrolled children and their parents and other area residents. Classes begin Monday August 30 and Tuesday 31.
