Wapsie Sportsmen's Fish Fry Sets Attendance Record and Fees
The Wapsie Sportsmen's annual fish fry at Tri Park drew 3,013 attendees, the second largest tally after 1969's 3,117. About 1,900 pounds of fish were served along with 700 pounds cabbage slaw and other items. 265 gallons of coffee were brewed, and 500 pounds of shortening used for frying. Indoor prize drawings were replaced by cash awards donated by local businesses and national manufacturers.
