H Club Fair Opens in Waverly Next Tuesday
The Bremer County 4-H Fair runs Tuesday through Thursday with Dairy Day on Thursday. Five Dairy Day queen nominees from Sumner Readlyn Waverly and other towns will compete. Events include livestock judging, 4-H demonstrations and nightly acts plus a big parade and fireworks. Auction closes the fair Friday morning.

Golden Wedding Anniversary Observed in Tripoli
Mr and Mrs Bert Buhr celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday afternoon at the Tripoli town hall with relatives and friends. A service by Rev William Goetz followed by a mock wedding readings by Lucy Hay and accordion music by Lynn Wilson. A 530 supper served to 160 guests. The couple wed Aug 2 1903 at Crane Creek with Rev J Herbst. Attendants were Ernest Fink and Bertha Frese. They have two sons Elmer Readlyn and George Denver four grandchildren Allen Readlyn Glenn Baltimore Virgil Denver JoAnn Chicago and one great granddaughter Debra Kay Walter Denver. Sixth Grade Teacher Boyd E. Kelsey Dies at New Hampton
Boyd Eastman Kelsey aged 53, a former Tripoli native and New Hampton resident, died of a heart attack at home after a recent illness. He served in World War I, was active in American Legion, and worked for New Hampton Municipal Plant. He leaves a widow, two children, his mother, siblings, and many nephews and nieces. The funeral was held at First Congregational church in New Hampton with burial in Graceland Cemetery.

Six Leave Today From Bremer County For Military Service
Six Bremer county men left this Wednesday morning for induction into military service.
