The Annual Canoe Race starts at 10:00 a.m. at Nevada Mills on the northwestern end of Jimmerson Lake. Canoeists travel southeast past Bledsoe's Beach, around the island in the third basin, then return to finish at Bledsoe's Beach amid cheering crowds.
Newman Club held a raffle offering a Sony portable transistor TV as the prize. Tickets cost 25 cents to 1 dollar, with drawings set for October 17, 1964, at the Armory. Contact any Newman Club member for details.
The Dean of Students states that no person other than residence hall residents is allowed in any hall without explicit permission from the hall housemother. The policy has not changed since the halls began operation.
Tau Sigma Eta offers weekly tutoring on Thursdays from 7 to 9 pm. Classes cover Room 615 Mechanic I II and 644 Physics, with attendance forms kept by the pupil. Engineering Society members conduct sessions and invite any students needing help in these areas.
Lt Chronister will head a team of Officer Selection Specialists visiting Tri State College on October 20 and 21 setting up headquarters in the College Cafeteria from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Interested seniors may learn about the United States Air Force Officer Training School program. Qualifications include ages 20 to 29, single or married with no dependents, ability to pass entrance and physical exams, and admission after college graduation. Contact Lt Chronister or Mr Sharrow for firm applications on the 20th.
The Fall Festival Dance will be held October 17 from 9:60 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at the National Guard Armory. The Jack Bunyan Orchestra, a twelve piece group with a vocalist, will provide music. Award presentations for the Fall Festival activities and the crowning of the queen will occur at 11:00 p.m.
The Triangle plans weekly polls among TSC students using sampling to gauge opinions on social economic and political issues. A poll box will be in the cafeteria and questionnaires will be distributed weekly inviting student participation and cooperation.
A public notice sets a new deadline for triangle copy submissions at 2:00 P.M. Monday with no exceptions. The directive emphasizes strict adherence and lists no tolerance for late entries.
The Triangle editors and staff unveil a new badge of better publication signaling a new era. Readers are invited to look forward to a nationally syndicated Collegiate News service for the first time.
Cathy Hays, daughter of Mr and Mrs Homer Hays of St. Louis, is a Fall Festival Queen candidate sponsored by the Interfraternity Council. A Bryan High School graduate from 1962, she attended Stephens College and is a Hillsdale College junior majoring in education. Her hobbies include singing and tennis.
