Archer Named Chief Engineer at Acme Electric
William R. Archer has been named Chief Engineer, Research and Development at Acme Electric Corporation, announced by President Kirk Hampton. Archer joined Acme in 1962 as a junior engineer, rising to senior development engineer and development coordinator before the new appointment. He holds a B S in electrical engineering from Tri State College Angola Indiana and is co holder of several US patents on power conversion equipment. He and his wife Linda Boyer of Angola, Indiana, live in Cuba New York with one daughter. Acme, headquartered in Cuba New York, designs and makes electrical products for computer, communications, office equipment, automation, military and recreation industries. It employs about 1,300 people in Cuba and Allegany New York and Lumberton North Carolina, with Tri State College graduates prominent in its staff.

Trojan Fencing Team Fares Poorly in Season Opener
The Trojan fencers faced tough competition in their first meet, losing to Cleveland State 19-8 and to the University of Illinois Chicago Circle 17-10. Foil captain Mike Nolan posted 4 wins and 2 losses for a .666 clip. The Tri-State women’s foil team did not fence as USCC and Cleveland did not bring their women’s squads. The Trojans travel to Sault Ste. Marie Michigan to face Lake Superior State and Michigan Tech next Saturday January 13.
