Traer Clipper and Star Clipper History Traced
The Traer Clipper began January 1, 1874 with editor Bernard Murphy and printer’s devil Elmer Taylor Sr. By 1878 Elmer Taylor Jr. founded the Truer Star, challenging the Clipper. The Star merged with the Clipper in 1854 to form the Star Clipper, which later featured J. E. Taylor and family leadership for decades. The Star Clipper earned multiple state and national awards including three America’s Best Weekly titles and three Master Editor Publisher honors.
