Sacred concert at Methodist Church on Wednesday December 12 promises an engaging program. A Missouri valley mining man from St. Louis departed for home after a mistaken saddle/horse mix. Mortality toll rises as Thomas McGonigal of Ireland origin buried at Centreville cemetery. survived by wife and many friends.
On Monday John Nelson accused his roommate H E Williams of theft after losing 90 from his clothing. Deputy Sheriff Garrett arrested Williams at Toston where two boxes were found in the river including a cot and a small cash box. Williams faced Judge Lloyd and was held in 500 bond awaiting grand jury.
Sunday November 25 a sudden death struck W H Green a railroad contractor at the Green residence in the San River country. Fire inflamations of the chain led to his death before his wife could be summoned in Helena. Funeral held at Helena on the 26 and burial at Townsend. Helena friends attended in large numbers and the procession to the cemetery followed with a hearse and other vehicles. Rev Leo performed the gravest rites.
Ex Senator Ferry of Michigan discusses the Sherman silver purchase law, free coinage, and international issues. He argues the Sherman act was better than nothing but flawed, and urges a unified American monetary system backed by state currency and gold or silver redeemable on demand.

The Meagher County Board of Commissioners calls an election for incorporation of a town to be named Townsend. A census lists 900 residents in the proposed territory. Election day is December 28 in Townsend at the rink, with boundaries described as all of Section 51 and the west half of Section. W. Hazelton appointed census taker. clerk W. Hazelton filed results.
