William Quinn, overwhelmed by repeated hardships, plans to end his life. Neighbors and local officials report his intent and urge intervention to prevent tragedy. Police are monitoring the situation and arranging support for the distressed man.
Sunday morning news from Townsend reports Wim Quinn attempted suicide with a 44 Winchester. He survived a head wound and was taken to Sisters Hospital in Helena as family and friends learned of his debt and failed railroad and Diamond Hill contracts.

C L Lerever of Townsend Meavher County Montana publishes intent to apply to the Secretary of the Interior after 21 days to remove about 100000 feet of timber from public land near Ray Creek for lumber supply to Townsend and vicinity. First published May 14 1896.
