Townsend Montana passes a comprehensive voter registration ordinance detailing districting, registration agents, required books and registers, registration periods, oath requirements, posting notices, and election procedures. It outlines duties, penalties, compensation, and observer rights, plus related town election appointments and timelines.
Ordinance number 11 requires annual town officer elections on the first Monday of April with notices posted in each ward at least 10 days prior. Cl erk of the Board of Aldermen must publish three notices describing time, place, offices to be voted for and term lengths. elections governed by Montana Political Code Article II Chapter III Title XI Part IV. Qualified electors reside six months in town and thirty days in ward.
John Smart, co owner in the Condor quartz lode mining claim in Jefferson County Montana, notifies J A Collins and heirs to contribute 100 dollars labor and improvements by ninety days after publication or his interest will vest in Smart. First published February 6 1896.
