Ches Whitcomb from York visits Townsend while Floren Butler from Badersburg and C A Whipple attend mining interests at Basin. Jere Collins returns from Helena with family to White Sulphur Springs. Local commerce includes Lloyd and Murray ads and cigar offerings at Mercy’s.
Seed time fades as harvest questions loom with many heading to Hassel for the Miners' Union event. Guests include Clark of Minneapolis visiting cousins Mrs. R. M. Vanglin and Irvie Hubbart. Attys Shober and Baldwin fished Spring creek with fair luck.
Assessor Whaley visited town on the 2nd to take names. Walter H. Little rode Friday's No.1 to Helena after a few days at the Raht ranch. Miss Mabel Lorentz returned from Bozeman where she attended school. N.O. Bowman reports a good lamb crop. Over 600,000 pounds of baled hay were shipped in May. Hantley and Clark sent a car of horses to the National Park service. W. B. Lorentz garden home shines, and his meals draw praise from friends. A late Saturday finding shows a favored guest’s cellar emptied of ham, eggs and desserts.
Confusing notes report social visits among local families including Mrs Pool and daughter, Mrs Wells a niece, Mrs Elmer Steiner visiting Canyon Ferry, Miss Alice Hinton and Miss Ellis from Rock Creek visiting Valley friends, Harry Daniels buying a new wheel, Mrs Johnson and Florence visiting Rock Creek, and residents attending a recent circus with elephants described as alright.
Filed for record transfers include Susan J. Rogers to Patrick R. Doherty bond and lease on Sunrise lode in Winston district. John Ward and P. J. Murphy to Diamond Hill Gold Mining Company right to maintain a water ditch and flume over Sunday quartz mining claim on Crow Creek. Curtis Estes to Lucy Miller in Great Cynosure lode, and William Ward to Frank Kennedy undivided 1 10 interest in the Big Casino quartz lode Beaver Creek district.
Helena handily beat Townsend by a large margin reflecting Townsend’s weak pitching and batting. The Helena lineup dominated with superior batting and fielding while Townsend missed old players and relied on weakened substitutes. Umpire Fisk praised for fair officiating as court terms and cases follow in the Meagher Broadwater docket.
