Broadwater County Created by Montana Legislature
The act carves Broadwater County from parts of Meagher and Jefferson counties, establishes its seat at Townsend, lines its boundaries along rivers and mountains, and sets governance, debt apportionment, and transition rules including officers, bonds, and school district funding to take effect March 1, 1895. It also alters Jefferson and Meagher boundaries to match Broadwater.
