Admission and discharge figures from Warm Springs asylum Montana

The report by Dr. C F Massingbrod shows 1889 admissions 104 with 65 discharges 15 deaths and 3 escapes. 1890 admissions 89 with 57 discharges 17 deaths and 1 escape. From 1877 to 1901 total 752 admitted 394 discharged 122 deaths 192 remaining. Of these 192, 23 female incurable 9 female curable, 115 male incurable 47 male curable. Northern Pacific R R Co Carnival Turnover Fare Sale

The Northern Pacific Railroad Company sells for the Carnival in Butte on February 10 excursion tickets to Butte and return for one and one fifth fare. Tickets available February 9 and 10 and valid for return until February 12, 1891. Agent A Whipple signs as general pass and ticket agent. Weather chatter ends the note.

Rich Mines in the Judith Country

The Lewiston Argus reports renewed activity in the Judith mountains with M L Poland and Al Chapman resuming work on the Ivanhoe on Crystal mountain. Richard Gies hires Henry Born to extend a 120 foot Bamboo Chief tunnel to 120 feet depth. Schaffer and Warner push a tunnel into Alpine gulch Black Hawk. Dougherty and Stuart resume near Maiden townsite aiming 110 feet depth. Charles Stephens drives 125 feet into Red mountain with gold ore. Denner and Pott sink 35 feet on Chicago lode with ore walls. Sager cleans debris at Spotted Horse and rebuilds a shaft house. timbering began on the 26th. Weather delays from the hoist burning are not expected to stop the season.

State vs Lieut E Anderson larceny case at Miles City

In Miles City a police magistrate heard the state versus Lieut E Anderson G troop First Cavalry charged with larceny. Anderson pleaded guilty, fined 5 dollars plus costs 20, and ordered to return the property after taking Rankum’s buffalo coat and fur gloves. Rankum suffered neuralgia while coat was missing.

Public smelter and concentrator eyed for Niehart location

The Herald argues Niehart should host reduction works citing ore localities water power and fuel. It says thousands of tons of ore sit idle on the damps of small operators that could fund further development if milled. It notes Townsend could also benefit from nearby ore and water power.
