Townsend Meagher County Gateway Promises Growth and Prosperity
The article touts Townsend as a thriving gateway to Meagher County with rich placer and quartz gold mines, free milling propositions, thriving wool and sheep industries, and expanding agriculture. It argues for a local flouring mill and a custom concentrator to boost wealth, employment, and regional development as capital backs the town’s rise.

The Pacetic Hotel order requires blue serge dresses and blue caps for lunch counters and dining rooms. Miss Mamie Kelly and Miss Lou Koogle at the Omaha Union depot refused the dress, resigned, and others threaten to quit rather than wear the uniform. The women called it horrid and unmodest. A. B. Henderson of San Francisco won the 100 yards foot race at Denver on the 15th, time 9.45 seconds.
