Olympia hosts a busy day as the Admiral, state officials, and city leaders are welcomed for a ceremonial visit. Officials from the state and city greet the Admiral, tour key sites, and discuss regional priorities amid a packed schedule.
In New York the fleet gathered for a grand naval parade in honor of Admiral Dewey. Olympia, Scorpion, and other vessels anchored as crowds cheered. Mayor Van Wyck and Gov Roosevelt led visits aboard the Olympia while Chicago and other delegations joined the event aboard the Sandy Hook and City of Lawrence. Dewey appeared in undress uniform as crews prepared for the procession.
