The Republican campaign opens in Akron with a huge crowd at the rail station and a dinner at the Elks Club. Governor Roosevelt and escort arrive from Cleveland amid celebratory reception by the Tippecanoe Club, with speeches stressing unity, tariff policy, and national service.
Cleveland Sept 23 Governor Theodore Roosevelt arrived from the east en route to Akron where he will speak at the campaign opening. He was met at the station by a Tippecanoe club committee and escorted to the Hollemer hotel for breakfast with Senator Hanna Col Myron T Herrick James H Higan and several Republicans. After a reception he departed for Akron by train with a large party as escort.
Chairman Hudson announces the Twentieth Kontak reception committee subcommittees with finance, music, military greeting, painters, sound, reception, auditing, transportation, lodging, and printing roles. Members include F H Crosby J W Going J S Warner W Mul vane M C Holman Abe Stein dere Col SM Pax Captain J W Dean Captain Ho OE Phillgis Major A M Hervey and many others.
