Fort Scott reports a Prohibition movement plans a united ticket to challenge Governor Morrill. Two faction leaders propose withdrawing current candidates and nominating joint Prohibition candidates in governor and attorney general races. A three from each faction would form a committee to coerce merger and place on the official ballot within two weeks.
In a county jai visit a 1 year old boy is described as arrested for stealing from a local employer on lower Kansas avenue. Deputies and a visiting Sherwood witness the boy’s arraignment as he is led to the inside corridor to await further proceedings. A story outlines the boy’s path from employment to theft, his attempt to flee, and his capture by Under Sheriff Lucas.
At the reunion meeting bids to seat the big tent were opened and the lowest bid of 165 dollars was deemed high by the committee. A. K. Rodgers moved to appropriate 100 dollars toward the cost, with the work left to Mayor Fellows. The motion carried.
