Baxter Fin Sept 17 Twelve of the new alleged sixteen were implicated in the Willing mob case and surrendered to Sheriff Herndon. They were sent to Jacksonville on a special train guarded by the men. Those surrendered included Charles Altman Hillary Altman Jeane Altman and others charged with murder and mob membership. Hillary Altman bore a shoulder wound though the others were uninjured. Sheriff Herndon and deputies expect more trouble but say the situation is under control.
M H Knauber, a stone mason, fell very ill Friday noon after eating embalmed beef purchased at a local grocery. He was unconscious for hours, moved to 361 Arter Avenue, and remained seriously ill. He accused the grocer of selling unsafe meat and warned others may suffer in the future.
From Cider Smith a forecast cites generally good conditions for the fair association but warns of severe storms from October 23. A cooler temperature and possible rain or snow flurries are expected around October 1. Union meeting at Chicasa Sept 17 aims to form a grievance committee to address packing house work and sheep unionist relations.

David B. Allen, 55, a Santa Fe railroad planing department employee, was found dead yesterday morning hanging from a tree behind his home at 227 Ash Street. He had been in poor health and despondent over rising insurance assessments from National Union and Supreme Court of Honor, which he could not pay. His wife, recently incapacitated by a fall, supported by Odd Fellows, National Union, and Supreme Court of Honor benefits, is left with no children. Funeral services will be conducted by the Odd Fellows at the Third Presbyterian Church, with burial in Topeka Cemetery.
Boston Sept 17 The Grand Army of the Republic issues a general order naming appointments and executive committee members. Names include Lee Estelle, James M Sehoonmaker, J Henry Holcombe, W F Martin, Samuel Wright and others from Omaha Pittsburg Philadelphia Decatur Boston and more. Also noted Radford turns in 7500 in August fees and Celtic carries 3350 souls from Queenstown to New York.
Attendance rose to a near record as the Kansar State fair concluded amid two days of cold wet weather that canceled programs. Dan Patch’s illness drew concern though horses showed strong displays in live stock, ponies, and horse shows. Judges faced debate over ribbons, with Mr Lee winning the premier ribbon in the Pair of Rowdasters event and Claude McAfer claiming the Best Boy Rider on Kanain King.
Friday at the fair grounds track was uneventful with no sensational runs. The anticipated Vanity vs Jim Underwood match race yielded two straight heats for Underwood, denying Vanity a chance to threaten the record. A pace maker named Patch left his private stable due to illness amid a subdued program.
