Five had been previously indicted for robbery. the violence sparked by fear and lawlessness extended to nearby Correct and Osgood as deputies tried to stop further bloodshed.

At a Pennsylvania coal shaft eight or more workers were seriously injured when a mine cage failed during lowering. Engineer Flint saved others by catching the cage as it dropped. The incident occurred near Lansing and the men received medical care and rest after the accident.
In Nanticoke Pennsylvania on September 15 a cage descending shaft No 2 at Alden coal mine dropped to the bottom. Eight miners were severely injured and four may die. The cage broke and workers barely escaped death as the shaft plunged. Four gravely hurt were taken to Wilkes-Barre Hospital. Names listed include Marion Enka, Pale ageheond, Sieg Mere Vorhen, Gee lank, Jasenh Stontie.
